It Started With A Dream

Back in 1987, Alexander Quindarion stood right where our lobby is now - just raw mountain terrain and endless possibilities. He'd spent years traveling through the Alps, the Rockies, wandering from resort to resort, thinking "there's gotta be something more."

What he wanted was a place that didn't feel like every other cookie-cutter mountain lodge. Something with soul, y'know? Where you could kick off your ski boots and feel like you'd actually arrived somewhere special.

So he built it. Partnered with local craftspeople, brought in artisans who understood wood and stone the way they understood their own hands. The original structure took three years to complete, and honestly? We're still finding little details they hid in the woodwork.

Evolution, Not Revolution

We added the spa wing in 2003 after guests kept asking where they could get a decent massage without driving down the mountain. Seemed obvious in hindsight. Then came the wellness center in 2012, the expanded conference facilities in 2018... each addition felt natural, like the building was telling us what it needed to become.

But here's what hasn't changed - that feeling when you walk through the front doors. The smell of cedar and mountain air. The way afternoon light hits the main staircase. The crackling fireplace in the great room where folks still gather after a day on the slopes.

We could've gone ultra-modern, all glass and steel. But that's not who we are.
